Will Allen Coming Back To Dolphins In 2011

MIAMI (CBS4) - When the NFL regular season ended, Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen was expected to be cut from the roster. Instead, Allen will return for the 2011 season.

The 10-year veteran agreed to take a pay cut in 2011 to stay with the Dolphins, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. The 2011 season will be the final season of his six-year contract and the Dolphins hope he can return to form to help the secondary next year.

Allen tore his ACL just six games into the 2009 season which vaulted Vontae Davis and Sean Smith in as the Fins' two starting cornerbacks. Allen will be 33 next season, but his presence in the secondary could allow the Fins to line him up on the slot or move Davis or Smith onto the slot receiver.

The Dolphins angered Allen last season when they put him on injured reserve before the regular season started. Allen thought he could have returned for the season, but the Fins management are confident he is healthy and hope he will return to his 2009 form.
