Trump Goes Hollywood To Pitch Condos

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - When real estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump enters a room, he gets the star treatment.

At a recent launch event of a high-end high-rise called Trump Hollywood on Hollywood's Ocean Drive party goers clamored for his attention. Trump, who doesn't actually own the building which has spacious units from $600 thousand to $6 million, said he came down to help with sales.

"We've had a great relationship with the developer for many years and I think it's going to do well. It's a beautiful, beautiful building" Trump said.

Developer Jorge Perez said when it comes to sales, Trump's star power 'trumps' them all.

"He has created the only recognizable global, international brand in real estate," said Perez, "That's why you see many that people want to partner up with him."

CBS4's Lisa Petrillo spoke with Trump,64,when he arrived in South Florida after a taping for the Oprah Winfrey Show in Chicago with his five children.

"I go from ages four to 32 which is a big gap, but Quincy Jones has a much bigger gap," chuckled Trump. "I have a wonderful group of kids."

"The big question everybody wants to know is will you be running for president in 2012," asked Petrillo.

"I'm very unhappy but I can't make an announcement by law until after Celebrity Apprentice, so I'm going to hold off," said Trump. "If I do it at all it's because I love the country and I hate seeing what's happening. All the jobs are going over to China and Mexico many other places. You know we are like the stupid whipping post. If I do it at all I'll certainly let you know, he said.

As for South Florida, Trump said after Chicago it was a pleasant change.

"We do well in Florida, I have the Mar-a-Lago Club and we have the greatest golf club in the world, but I do really like it here in general. I love the weather."
