"Drive Thru" At N. Miami Starbucks, Four Hurt

NORTH MIAMI - (CBS4) - People inside a North Miami Starbucks got quite a scare Tuesday afternoon when an elderly driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake sending his black Lexus completely inside the coffee shop.

The impact injured four people inside who were taken to Aventura Hospital, said North Miami Police Maj. Neal Cuevas. A fifth person was injured in the crash, but did not need to be hospitalized, Cuevas added.

The accident occurred just after 3 p.m. at the Starbucks on 13503 Biscayne Blvd. The driver, whose name was not immediately released, may be charged with careless driving, Cuevas said.

Employees at the Jamba Juice next door described the impact as an "earthquake."

"It's kind of strange," said Carmen Serrano, the general manager at the neighboring juice bar told CBSMiami.com. "The employees inside my store – they thought it was an earthquake."
