MIAMI (CBS4)-A man and a woman were charged with murder after a two-year-old boy died from his injuries that police say were inflicted by the two Miami residents.

Miami Police Department said Daquan Davis was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital after they responded to his home at 584 NW 65th Street. Police said they suspected foul play and after further investigation they discovered that the child was hit repeatedly with blunt force. He also had visible bruising.

Davis was under the care of 25-year-old Roseline Louidor, the child's family friend, and 26-year-old Serrel Cameo Walkin.

According to the toddler's mother, the boy was under Louidor's care since September 2010. She said she gave the child away to Louidor after she could no longer care for him.

Police said while under Louidor's care he suffered a ruptured liver and torn intestines, injuries that led to his death. The pair admitted to the beating, but said they only spanked him with a sandal.

Louidor and Walkin were each charged with first degree murder child abuse.
