Father and Daughter Die After Car Hits House

HOMESTEAD (CBS4) – Police and residents gathered and guarded the Fairways community in Homestead where two residents a father and daughter lost their lives.

"I am devastated" said Alfreda Lyons, a friend of the unnamed victim.

Heartbroken residents waited outside for hours while police investigated the accident that occurred just after 4 o clock Saturday afternoon.

According to police a 61 year old woman was driving her car with her 93 year old father when for some unknown reason she lost control went through the guard gate, an iron fence, hedges finally striking home.

"It happened so fast I saw a glimpse of the car at a high rate of speed and I move out of its path before it hit the home, but how that happened is beyond me" said Larry Meno who witnessed the accident.

Homestead Police Spokesperson Fernando Morales said the 61-year-old female driver lost control of the car and crashed through a security gate into trees, fences and then a house in the 2500 block of Fairways Drive.

No one inside the home was hurt.

Police have not released the identity of the victims.
