Marlins Audition For Mermaids, Manatees

MIAMI (CBS4) - Does baseball make you want to dance? If so, the Florida Marlins may want you for one of their dance squads. They're looking for pretty women who can dance, but if you're an out-of-shape guy who can still bust a few moves, you could have a chance as well.

On Sunday, the Marlins are holding their first round of tryouts for their Mermaids and Manatees dance squads. As you might suspect, the Mermaids are the attractive female dancers. In fact, the Mermaids were recently voted as one of Miami's Sexiest Jobs by E! Network.

As for the Manatees, well they're the guys. To be a manatee, enthusiasm is the key. You don't have to be pretty, you don't have to have previous dance experience and you don't have to be svelte. You do have to be able to learn a routine for the audition and you can't be shy.

Those auditioning need to come dressed to dance, have a resume and a head shot.

The auditions are being held at the Adrienne Arsht center in Miami. The Manatees auditions go from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Mermaids auditions start at 11:30 and will run until about 1:30 p.m.

Those selected as finalists will then enter an intensive week long boot camp and undergo their final audition on Friday, January 28th, at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel.
