Fmr. President Clinton In South Florida Promote Healthy Eating

MIAMI (CBS4) - Former President Bill Clinton was in South Florida Friday afternoon to make sure local children grow up to be a healthier, happier generation.

President Clinton, accompanied by Miami-Dade School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, announced groundbreaking industry agreements to help increase availability of health school meals for more than 30 million students across the country.

Students and teachers from 18 Miami-Dade Schools were on hand to watch the presentation at Edison Middle School in Miami.

The initiative, titled the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, has thirteen leading school meals manufacturers, group purchasing organizations and technology companied joining forces to make healthy meals available.
