Police Seek Armed Man Who Leaves Store Empty-Handed

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) -- Miami-Dade Police are asking for help from the public in identifying a man wanted for an attempted armed robbery of a Southwest Miami-Dade convenience store but who left the crime scene empty-handed.

According to police, the suspect walked into the U-Tote-Em food store, located at 15868 SW 137th Avenue on Jan. 12th, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. The suspect demanded the store clerk give him money from the cash register and from behind the counter.

When the clerk told him there wasn't any money in the store, the armed suspect threatened to shoot him if he called the police as he ran out of the store to a waiting vehicle driven by another man.

  The first suspect is described as a white Latin man, in his early 20s, about 5'7", 160 pounds, dark eyes, clean shaven,  medium complexion, wearing a blue Reebok hoodie, blue shorts with a white stripe on the sides and sneakers.

The driver of the getaway car is described as a white Latin man, in his early 20s, brown short hair, wearing a dark hoodie.

 The getaway car is an older model tan Toyota Corolla with the tag bent upwards and damage to the lower panel on the driver's side rear door.

If you have information about the suspects in this crime, you are urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.  If the tip leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. All calls are anonymous.
