Jersey Shore's Snooki Doesn't Want To Be Called Snooki Anymore

NEW YORK (CBS4) - Nicole Polizzi is a little over herself. Well, not herself, but her nickname: Snooki.

The "Jersey Shore" star says that the moniker that helped make her famous has gotten a little old.

"I miss my real name. I miss people calling me Nicole," she said.

The 23-year-old's full name and nickname appear on the cover of her novel "A Shore Thing."

It's about a young woman named Gia and her cousin Isabella who go to the shore with the hopes of having the best summer ever. Snooki said their bond is based on her real-life relationship with co-star Jenni Farley, aka J Woww.

The Jan. 6 episode of "Jersey Shore" set a record for MTV attracting 8.45 million viewers. It was MTV's most watched show ever.

Last month, MTV confirmed cast member Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio would be getting his own spinoff.

As for rumors Snooki will follow suit with her own show, she said she's open to the possibility.

"There hasn't been any talk. ... Of course if the opportunity is given to me, I'm gonna run with it," she said.
