Beating 2011 High prices

It seems since the start of the New Year, wherever we look we're seeing higher prices at local check-out counters or when we open our latest bills in the mail.

Rising production costs and higher gas prices are hurting everyone's New Years' budgets.

So how can we beat it?

Look for bulk food bargains and discount coupons. Consider better meal-planning based on weekly specials. But don't buy something on sale that you may not really use.

All you need to do is check your old gas Bills to see prices are rising again. Unleaded regular's already approaching $3.30 a gallon and even higher around South Florida gas stations. You can stretch your gas mileage by taking extra weight out of your car, clean out the trunk and make sure your vehicle's well maintained and the tires are properly inflated.

Residential Electric bills are always a problem. But over the winter, you can turn off your air conditioning or turn up the thermostat and even open the windows to cut back electric bills. You can also save money by lowering the water temperature in hot water heaters. that way they won't have to use so much electricity.
