Miramar Man Charged With Trying To Run Over Detective

MIRAMAR (CBS4) -- Miramar police have arrested a man in connection with a police-involved shooting in Miramar.

Patrick Gerand, 25, is charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Police say Gerand hit a detective with a silver Dodge Charger while fleeing from officers on December 9th in the 68-hundred block of SW 26th Court.

The detective fired multiple shots which shattered a rear window. The officer suffered only minor injuries.

The Dodge Charger, say police, was recently found and Gerand was identified as the suspect at the wheel, even though he's not registered as the owner of the car.

Gerand is being held at the Broward County main jail without bond.
