NORTH MIAMI (CBS4)- Police are looking for a man who they say robbed then shot a woman as she fled the scene in North Miami Thursday.

The North Miami Police Department said the man approached the woman, Diana King, in the stairwell with a gun at the Center Court Apartment Homes at 14797 NE 18 Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. The man took the woman’s purse then shot the 28-year-old woman as she fled the scene, police said.

Police described the man as an African American male, thin build and is 20 to 30 years of age. The man has short cropped hair and is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, police said.

The man was last seen wearing a black “COOGI” hooded sweatshirt with orange pockets. The brand name “COOGI” is located on the front of the hoodie in orange block letters, police said.

The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she underwent surgery. She is in critical condition.

Police said if you recognize the man do not approach him as he may be armed and “dangerous.”

Anyone with information should Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS or the North Miami Police Department.
