Child Witnesses Home Invaders Tie Up Family

SWEETWATER (CBS4) - Sweetwater police continue to search for a group of men involved in a home invasion robbery.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males who were armed with chrome plated hand guns, according to Sweetwater Police Spokesman Lt. Jorge Delara, who knocked on the door of a home located at NW 116th Avenue and 2nd Street in Sweetwater around 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

When one of the residents answered the door, the men forced themselves inside. Police say they tied up the parents and grandparents of a 2-year-old child, took some money and then left. The child, who was not tied up, witnessed the entire crime, according to police.

"At this point, all we know is that it was approximately three offenders, three to four offenders that came to the door," said Sweetwater Police Lt. Jorge Delara.

None of the people inside the home were hurt.

If you have any information on this home invasion, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
