Former President Carter Gets Up Close And Personal With Keys Dolphin

MARATHON (Florida Keys News Bureau)  — Continuing a vacation in the Florida Keys, former President Jimmy Carter and other family members interacted with dolphins Wednesday at Hawk's Cay Resort.

Carter and wife Rosalynn got a flipper shake from Nemo and had an opportunity to get other up-close-and-personal looks at the marine mammals through an educational program offered by The Dolphin Connection at the resort.

Carter is in the Keys with a number of family members as part of a holiday respite.

On Tuesday, Carter participated in the release of "Danger," a rehabilitated loggerhead turtle, after touring The Turtle Hospital in Marathon.

The vacation in the Keys is not the first for Carter and his family. In 1996, the family had a New Year's Eve dinner at the Harry S. Truman Little White House in Key West and returned there for a visit in December 2007 during a cruise ship port call.
