Jets Coach Suspended Indefinitely

NEW YORK (CBS4) - Just days after he was caught on camera tripping Miami Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll, the Jets have suspended assistant coach Sal Alosi indefinitely.

Alosi, the Jets strength and condition coach, was suspended by the Jets for ordering five inactive players to form a wall along the sideline during a punt return. Carroll was a "gunner" on the play and was forced out of bounds as he was running down the field to tackle the punt returner.

Alosi and the five players were lined up shoulder-to-shoulder with their toes on the white line when he stuck his knee out to trip Carroll on the sideline.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said that Alosi initially didn't acknowledge that he ordered players to stand that way during the initial investigation on Monday.

Alosi had already been suspended without pay for the remainder of the season and fined $25,000 by the NFL. His indefinite suspension from the Jets also carries an additional $25,000 fine.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan and special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff have denied any part in the scheme.
