Man Killed Trying To Flee I-95 Crash

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for answers after a man was killed on I-95 early Sunday morning after being involved in an accident.
It happened just before 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Sheridan Street.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky described the accident as minor. As Hollywood Fire Rescue vehicles arrived, Wysocky said one of the drivers, 46-year old Pedro Segarra of North Miami Beach, attempted to run way from the crash scene. As he crossed the lanes of traffic he was struck several times and killed.

Two of the vehicles that hit the man kept going; a third driver remained on the scene.
All southbound lanes were shut down for hours as FHP troopers conducted their investigation. Drivers heading south were forced to exit at Stirling Road. The lanes were re-opened around 8 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators are looking for a dark colored SUV with front end damage, a burgundy vehicle along with other vehicles that struck the subject and left the scene. If anyone has information about this crash they are urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 954-837-4012 or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
