17 Cubans Repatriated By Coast Guard

MIAMI (CBS4) -- More than a dozen Cubans were repatriated to Bahia de Cabanas Cuba Saturday after being intercepted at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard and another ship.

The Coast Guard reported seeing what they call a "rustic vessel" 12 miles north of Punta Maisi, Cuba Dec. 4 and had to provide life jackets to the people aboard as they brought them on board their cutter.

Then, on Sunday, The Royal Caribbean cruise ship "Monarch" found another boat about 18 miles west of Freeport in the Bahamas with six people aboard, who they took aboard and later turned over to the Coast Guard.

One of those six is being taken to the Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay for what the Coast Guard calls "further processing."
