Winterfest Boat Parade Plane On The Move Sunday

DANIA BEACH (CBS4) - Drivers cruising Federal Highway in Dania Beach will probably do a double take Sunday night when they spot a 10 passenger jet being towed behind a pick up truck.

The 48-foot long twin-engine Sabre 60 jet, which will be towed by a Ford 250 nearly 12 miles from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport to Dania Beach, will then be hoisted onto a barge and prepped for its appearance in Broward's Winterfest Boat Parade on December 11th, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The jet will be moved around midnight. Police will escort the plane on its three-hour trip which will begin along Commerical Boulevard to Dixie Highway. From there it will south to NE 4th Street where the mini-parade will head east to Federal Highway and then south to Dania Beach.

The jet will be the highlight of the Sky Limo Air Charter entry into the parade. Sky Limo business development director Damian Lopez said the idea for the plane came from the company's owner, Tom Conlan, who wanted to do a Frank Sinatra "Fly Me To The Moon" theme. In addition to the plane the float will have dancing flight attendants, pilots and a Sinatra impersonator (of course) set against a glowing moon backdrop.
