Football Trick Play Becomes YouTube Hit

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (CBS4) ―Sometimes a team needs a little trickeration to get them over the hump in a game. For Driscoll Middle School in Corpus Christi, Texas, the football team decided to pull a trick play that ended up with the team celebrating in the end zone after walking right by the opponent.

Here's how the play went down in the game. Driscoll lined up at their 33-yard line at which point the quarterback began signaling to the sidelines that he was confused about the play call, the center, or everything about the play.

The coach waves the quarterback back under center and the center reaches over his shoulder and hands the ball to the quarterback. It appeared to the other team that there was a penalty or something and the Driscoll quarterback was simply walking the ball ahead five yards.

The quarterback walked right through his offensive line and the defensive line and just past the linebackers when he suddenly hit the afterburners and took off down the middle of the field. As defenders gave chase, he made one cut and was in the end zone.

The quarterback and the defender giving chase were moving too, unofficially, both ran the final 40 yards in right around 5 seconds, which is pretty good considering the kids are only in middle school.

If that's not enough trickeration for you, try this play run by the Cleveland Browns against the New England Patriots last weekend.
