CBS4 Morning Team Goes "Still 4 A Cause"

MIAMI (CBS4) - The CBS4 Morning Team undertook a big challenger Sunday morning and would like to thank all those who stopped by to offer donations and their support.

In order to raise money for Neighbors 4 Neighbors Adopt-A-Family Campaign they decided to follow in the footsteps of Shaq and stand still, like mannequins, in "Still 4 a Cause," and were able to raise $300.

The challenge started off as a joke on the CBS 4 Morning show after doing a story on NBA star and former Miami Heat player Shaquille O'Neal who posed as a statue for fans to take pictures of him in Boston's Harvard Square.

Many fans took pictures with him but Shaq did not move or speak the entire time, despite the fact that people were trying to distract him and get him to move.

So, when morning anchor Jawan Strader was given the challenge by Cynthia Demos, he thought why not? Strader was able to convince the rest of the morning team to join in on the challenge at the Dadeland Mall.

So Sunday afternoon Strader was joined by morning team members Christina Loren, Marybel Rodriguez and Lissette Gonzalez who all posed for an hour in the mall's food court as fans crowded around to have their pictures taken.

About 100 people took part.

At the same time, volunteers from Neighbors 4 Neighbors collected donations from the crowd that will go to gift cards and toys for families that might not otherwise have the means to enjoy the holidays.

"It makes me a better person, because I'm actually giving a part of myself and a lot of people are in need right now because of these hard times, so it feels good," said Benjamin Davila.

During the hour more than $300 was raised for N4N Adopt-A-Family campaign.
